November 2026 Newsletter

Greetings, CTU Members and Friends –

As a result of our advert for a new Minister to start 1 January 2027, we are delighted to report that we have two candidates who have applied: Rev. Gur Mouanga and Rev. Berry Behr. CTU is blessed to have these two candidates who are already deeply connected to our community, and we look forward to having each candidate lead a service in November. Please make a special effort to come support them!

Our theme for November and December is “Gathering in Community”. How do we come together in ways that support each other and support the greater good?

With love and light,

Nima

1 November, ONLINE ONLY, GUR - Finding Hope Together. In times of uncertainty, hope can become an important remedy to navigate life. Life brings challenges, disagreements, disappointments. But as a community, we do not have to face them alone. Hope remains possible and grows stronger when we come together. Gur will share some ideas about how hope can pave ways of discovering new possibilities for community renewal.

8 November, ONLINE ONLY, BERRY - Belonging. What does it mean to truly belong? Beyond the boundaries of identity, culture, faith and community, we’ll explore our deep human longing for connection, the paradox of loneliness in an apparently interconnected world, and how we might create spaces where we can be fully ourselves while making room for others to do the same.

15 November, ONLINE ONLY, Gathering in Community. What does it mean to gather? Why does it feel important to most humans to feel loved and supported by others? We will be exploring this theme from different angles in November and December, some of which will be based on the book “The Art of Gathering” by Priya Parker.

22 November, ONLINE ONLY, Celebrating the life of Jeanie Mayes. Our dear member Jeanie Mayes, passed away in July, and we want to come together to celebrate her life. Whether you knew Jeanie or not, this is a wonderful opportunity for us to explore what being in community means. Join us to celebrate her life and reflect on the power of community to support a life well lived. DO YOU HAVE A PHOTO OR STORY TO TELL ABOUT JEANIE? We want to include them if we have time.

29 November, ONLINE ONLY, The Art of Gathering: Creating Community. In a world where loneliness and disconnection are increasingly common, how do we create meaningful opportunities to come together? We’ll explore the many ways we can gather with others—from informal conversations and shared meals to intentional circles and community celebrations. We’ll consider what makes a gathering meaningful and how we can create spaces where people feel welcomed, connected, and part of something larger than themselves.
